Tips/Suggestions
- 1. Mindset & Approach:
- - Do not go into the interview with preconceived notions — interviews can be highly unpredictable.
- - Even in stressful situations, maintain a smile and stay composed.
- - Focus on answering calmly and thoughtfully rather than reacting impulsively.
- 2. Statement of Purpose (SOP) Preparation
- - IIM Bangalore interviews tend to focus heavily on the SOP. Go through your SOP in detail and be prepared to answer any question derived from it.
- - Keep your SOP: Simple, Authentic, Reflective of your life journey, Clear about your future goals and how an MBA from IIMB fits in
- - Avoid using heavy jargon or complex buzzwords — they may lead to deeper probing that becomes difficult to handle.
- 3. Know Your Background Thoroughly
- - Be well-prepared on: Academic subjects, Schooling and college experiences, Work experience, City/region you have lived or studied in, Expect questions linking your background to your decisions and career path.
- 4. HR & Standard Questions
- - Prepare clear and structured answers for: Tell Me About Yourself (TMAY), Why MBA?, Why MBA now? etc.
- - These are foundational and often set the tone for the interview.
- 5. Current Affairs Preparation
- - Stay updated with current affairs, especially business and economy.
- - Read newspapers and editorials daily.
- - Recommended: Spend 30–40 minutes daily reading The Economic Times or similar sources.
- 6. Practice & Mock Interviews
- - Use AI tools to refine answers and simulate interview scenarios.
- - Practice mock interviews with: Alumni, Current B-school students to build confidence and improve articulation. Practice with people with diverse backgrounds to understand potential questions that may be asked.
- 7. Final Advice
- - Be genuine — authenticity stands out more than rehearsed answers.
- - Stay adaptable — panels may change direction quickly.
Overall Process Experience
- ✗I was last(9th) in my panel and had been waiting for almost 4 hours before i was finally called in. But i was still high on energy because i knew the interviewers would also be tired so it was on me to bring the energy up. I was also talking to fellow interviewees throughout which helped me stay calm and also set me in a natural flow of conversation.
