Round 1Answer
Music is just an escape for me, never wanted it to be a career. In the 50-60 songs that I recorded, I only uploaded 10 songs on my Instagram. This was only to showcase my talents when someone asks what I sang.
Tips/Suggestions
- ● During the GD, some of the participants only looked at the convenor while answering. Try to address the group as a whole and look at everyone. I noted around 5-6 points that everyone said and when it was my chance to speak, I looked at the person who said the point and countered all their points one by one. Be very polite and do not outright reject anyone’s opinions, even if you think that they are wrong. Try to have atleast one minutes’ worth of points when speaking, do not give one-line answers.
- ● Make sure to look lively in the interview and make eye contact. Look like you really want to be there. Frame your HR answers like this role was what you were looking for your whole life. They should feel like this role is the epitome of your existence. I gave them many experiences from my past that convinced them that I was perfect for this role. I not only told them what I would get from them, I told them what they would get from me. It is a two-way street, so make sure you have something to offer them.
- ● The names of the interviewers will mostly be displayed on the door, but if they are not, try to find out. I addressed them by their names and they loved it.
- ● Industry analysis is a must for this role, there is a high chance you will be asked this in the interview. The interviewer already selected me in the first round, the other rounds were just a formality. I gave the exact industry analysis answers they were looking for. They would ask a question and eagerly wait for what I was going to say. As soon as I said a few words, I could see it in their eyes that “this guy knows the answers, let’s just see how he frames them.”
- ● I was not asked any finance or accounts questions. Only the industry analysis part was technical. The rest was HR questions in general. Be solid with every reason you have for why your grad, why MBA, why not some other degree, etc.
- ● The third round was just a formality, to make sure I was the right culture fit for them. It was just basic questions related to the company, nothing significantly hard.
- ● All my interview rounds were just conversations in general. The second-round interviewer was a CA. I found that out and we started having a casual conversation about CA. I noticed he was yawning throughout the interview and figured he was very tired. At the end of the interview, I got up, thanked him and as I was about to go out the door, I asked him if I should tell someone to get him a coffee. He laughed and said he already had some and said bye. It was a very risky move but I built the rapport with him and he could see my intentions clear as day. I was told by a senior to bring a USP to the interview. I had no idea what that meant so I was just myself throughout.
- ● I did not answer every question right. In fact, the interviewers handed me 30-40% of the answers when I was wrong. I quickly realised I was wrong, smiled at them and conveyed to them that I was wrong. But I held my ground in 1-2 answers where I felt my answer was correct and the interviewer agreed with my answer in the end.
Overall Process Experience
- ✗The process was very tiring as it was GD + 3 rounds of interviews. My flight landed at midnight and I reached the hotel at 2 am in the night. I made sure to have atleast 4 hours of sleep. The interviewers did not take stress interviews, atleast for me. It was a conversation throughout. They were very friendly and accommodating. As long as you don’t get nervous, did enough preparation, you should get through it smoothly.
